  • Q: How can I make money with ZoneTick?

    A: ZoneTick World Time Zone Clock is a great productivity tool for enterprises and individuals. If you have a web site you can help us distribute trial versions. Each sale generated with your help will bring you 40% commission. All you have to do is this:
    • Open an affiliate account with RegNow free of charge.
    • Find our product by searching for product name "ZoneTick" or id "12892-1".
    • Generate sales links and put them on your web site together with promotional graphics of your choice.

    Everything else is handled by RegNow automatically. They will instantly provide you with a custom installer where all BUY links embed your affiliate ID. Potential clients download and try it. When customer decides to buy your affiliate ID is passed along to the online shop. You get paid by our payment processing partner.

    For affiliate web sites we offer a free, fully configurable web variation of the product. A couple of examples may be seen on this site: http://timetracker.wrconsulting.com. Make sure to check the digital clocks on top of the page and analog clocks on bottom. Such clocks can make your page more attractive to visitors and also contribute to your cash flow.

    Q: How do I configure my ZoneTick to display GMT time?

    A: By default ZoneTick shows a couple of clocks after installation: your local time and London. London uses a time zone with daylight saving on. You need to change the time zone for your second clock to GMT. Usually it's called (GMT) Casablanca, Monrovia. Just double-click on the London clock and change the time zone in the Preferences window that appears.

    Q: I no longer see the "Activate" option in trial ZoneTick. How can I activate my ZoneTick?

    In an attempt to simplify maintenance for ZoneTick users we removed activation functionality from the product. Paying customers now receive a download link to the full version, which does not require activation at all.

    If you are a former customer in need to reinstall ZoneTick on another system you may be eligible for a free update. Updates are provided free of charge during 1 year after your purchase. If you purchased your ZoneTick more than a year ago you may be eligible for 50% discount on a new version. Write to support at wrconsulting dot com for additional information. We may ask for a proof of purchase.

    Q: We are an enterprise customer looking to install ZoneTick for hundreds of users. Do you offer a site or a corporate license?

    A: Yes, we do. Purchasing a site license allows you to install ZoneTick on any number of computers in one "site", which is one geographical location in an organization, such as one company office in one city, a university campus, a military base, one navy ship, etc. Another option is unlimited worldwide organizational license, which is simply an extension of one site license to unlimted number of sites within one organization. This works best for large worldwide companies. All ZoneTick purchasing options are outlined on this page.

    Q: I am a licensed user of an older ZoneTick version. Do I need to pay for an updated product?

    A: Each licensed ZoneTick user is eligible for free product updates during 1 full year after original purchase. If an update became available during this time you may try it and, if you must have it, request your full version by writing to support at wrconsulting dot com.

    Notice that starting with v2.6.7 we eliminated activation functionality from the product. Trial versions can no longer be activated. Instead of activation codes all paying customers now receive download links to the full version, which does not need to be activated. This was done to simplify maintenance for ZoneTick users.

    If you purchased ZoneTick more than 1 year ago you may be eligible for a 50% discount on the new version. Write to sales at wrconsulting dot com and ask for discount coupon code. Please provide some proof of your original purchase (reference number, communication from us, etc.).

    Q: I am upgrading my computer and need to reinstall ZoneTick. How can I do it?

    A: For versions 2.6.7 and above simply use the original installer to install on another computer. You will not need an activation key. For ZoneTick users with version 2.6.6 and prior: you may be eligible for a free upgrade or discount. Upgrades are provided free of charge during 1 year after purchase and at a 50% discount after that. Write to support at wrconsulting dot com for additional details.

    Q: How do you choose a program or URL to launch on double-click of a certain clock?

    A: In the "clocks" tab of the preferences menu, click the radio-button marked "Go to URL or launch program". Then, input your desired URL into the box provided. If you wish to launch a program, simply type in the file path to that program. Now, double-clicking on the clock to which you made these changes, should have the desired effect.

    Q: What operating systems does the product support?

    A: The product had been tested on Windows 95 (OSR2 with IE 5 installed), 98, ME, NT, 2000, XP, and 2003. Skins require 65536 or more display colors (High Color - 16 bit, or better).

    Q: Do I need to set ZoneTick to display a certain timezone before I can assign an alarm to this zone?

    A: No. Alarms can be set up on disabled, hidden clocks. Unmark clock checkbox in the tree to remove it from your system tray. Alarms will still function for such clocks unless they are disabled. Note that you can disable all alarms for a certain clock by unmarking its Alarms node or disable some alarms individually.

    Q: How do I configure my ZoneTick to display military time?

    A: Any ZoneTick clock may be configured to display time in a custom format, including military. To make things more convenient, we provide a mechanism for individual selection of time and date formats for each clock. This enables you, for example, to display local time in 12-hour am/pm format and GMT time in 24-hour military format. There is a variety of built-in formats available on the Clocks page of ZoneTick Preferences. The format you need is either "24 hours", "HH:mm:ss" or "HH:mm".

    Q: How do I change ZoneTick's appearance?

    A: ZoneTick comes with several digital and analog skins, which can be accessed from the General Preferences Menu. Just click to the menu in the options dialog, and then select your skin from the drop-down list. The check-box below this list also gives you the option of making your skins transparent, and displaying the toolbar's color behind the digits.

    Q: What is a "skin"?

    A: Skins are the visual styles that ZoneTick uses when displaying your time in the system tray. Changing them allows you to customize the look of your clock, manipulating the colors and fonts of the displayed letters and numbers. Some skins allow you to display clocks in analog format, which is great for vertical or multiple-line horizontal taskbars.

    Q: Can I make my own skins for ZoneTick?

    A: Yes. Making your own ZoneTick skins requires no more than an image editing program of your choice, and some creativity on your part. A detailed guide on how to do this is available here.

    Q: How do I pre-configure ZoneTick for many users?

    A: This only works in enterprise edition. Default start-up settings for ZoneTick are stored in the default.ini file in the program's directory (usually C:\Program Files\ZoneTick\). Open default.ini in a text-editing program. Then find the following section of code:

    [default:clock1]
    deleted=0
    enable=0
    tooltip=Tokyo, Japan
    timezone=(GMT+09:00) Osaka, Sapporo, Tokyo
    usedaylight=0
    showseconds=0
    zone=Tokyo Standard Time
    prefix=Tokyo
    action=0
    url=http://products.wrconsulting.com/zonetick/adv.htm

    [default:clock2]
    deleted=0
    enable=1
    tooltip=London, UK
    timezone=(GMT) Greenwich Mean Time : Dublin, Edinburgh, Lisbon, London
    usedaylight=1
    showseconds=0
    zone=GMT Standard Time
    prefix=London
    action=0
    url=http://products.wrconsulting.com/zonetick/adv.htm

    [default:clock3]
    deleted=0
    enable=1
    tooltip=My time
    timezone=
    usedaylight=1
    showseconds=1
    zone=
    prefix=
    action=0
    url=http://products.wrconsulting.com/zonetick/adv.htm

    Format the various options to the settings you find desirable, save the file and exit. Now, delete the zonetick.ini file, which can be found in the same directory, and restart your ZoneTick. When re-launched, ZoneTick will pick up the changes you have made. Do the same for other users.

    Q: It looks like the time for Jerusalem (Israel) is wrong. As far as I know their time is one hour ahead of Amsterdam. In ZoneTick these times are equal.

    A: ZoneTick uses time zone information and daylight saving shifts stored in your computer. If your computer timezone for Jerusalem does not allow for daylight saving then summer time for Jerusalem may be wrong. Additionally, some countries may change their time zone rules once in a while. You may edit time zones in you computer using the Time Zone Editor tool from Microsoft. Please read the following article for more information: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;317211.

    Q: How can I configure dynamic color change on clocks?

    A: In v2.5 and newer it's very easy to do by assigning time-sensitive backgrounds to your clocks. Use the Backgrounds sub-node on the Clocks page of ZoneTick Preferences to configure backgrounds as you like.

    In earlier versions the procedure is manual and requires editing the zonetick.ini file. For example, to make clock greenish during work hours between 9 and 5 Monday through Friday add the following line to each individual clock section in your zonetick.ini:

    [username:clock1]
    profile1=09:00-17:00, 00FF00, 50, 12345, Open for business

    Greenish color indicates that local office is open.

    Values here are:

    profile1 - name of prioritized profile. You can have many profiles. The lowest applicable always wins.
    09:00-17:00 - time range in military time format when this profile is active.
    00FF00 - RGB color to mix clock face with. In this case we are adding green (FF value for Green, zero for Red and Blue).
    50 - strength of mixing. Allowed range is between 00 and FF.
    12345 - days of week the profile is active, 0 = Sunday, 1 = Monday, and so on.
    Open for business - optional text string to add to tooltip when profile is active.

    Here is another example to use greenish color during office hours and reddish color otherwise:

    profile1=09:00-17:00, 00FF00, 50, 12345, Open for business
    profile2=00:00-24:00, FF0000, 50, 0123456, Office closed

    Reddish color indicates that Tokyo office is still closed.

    Note: you'll need to either restart ZoneTick or reapply settings after introducing profiles. Restart will only work in registered or enterprise versions.

    Q: Do you offer anything for OEMs?

    A: Yes, we do. ZoneTick World Time Zone Clock, preinstalled into your systems, will make them more attractive to buyers and may lead to increased sales. We are interested in talking to established companies about possible deals. Some of our existing customers already work in such companies. But don't take our words for granted. Ask your own staff. Ask if anyone is using ZoneTick already and how it improves productivity. Then consider buying a corporate license. And when the company productivity improves install it for all your customers! Make them a bit happier. Warning: this tool is addictive. You may never want to get rid of it.

    Q: Do you license the source code?

    A: In spite of simplicity, low price, and ease of use, ZoneTick World Time Zone Clock is a serious project with proper investments made into marketing and R&D. It is capable of making its entire competition irrelevant and is moving steadily ahead to accomplish this goal.

    There is only one way to stop it, which is buying the entire project altogether with its source code and a large customer base. If you represent a publicly traded company and have a serious intention to consider a deal please contact us at info at wrconsulting dot com.
